American female Voice reporting a payment of £399.99 From my account today. Similar call yesterday on slightly different phone number indicating that this payment would be taken in 24 hours. No suggestion that I should press a button to reply, but today’s message suggestEd calling Amazon customer service to enquire about the transaction. I haven’t ordered anything from Amazon in months. I did not speak in the phone during either message

Recorded message saying that some illegal activity has been occurring on my internet connection with Virgin Media and that my connection would be turned of in the next 12 to 24 hours. I am then asked to pres 1 for this and 2 for that etc but I don't and hang up. I've had several call regarding this but from different numbers.

Voice says "A purchase for $499.99 has been made on your Amazon account. If you did not make this purchase press 1 now to speak with your Amazon customer representative."
Of course it isn't Amazon and, if you do press 1 they want you to visit a non-Amazon web page to cancel the order. Just spin them out for as long as you can, but do NOT visit that website. The longer you keep them tied up on your line without any gain, the less time they have to try to scam someone else. If we all do this then eventually their scam business will be unsustainable.
